The film showcases the downfall of fictional composer and conductor Lydia Tár who co-founded a program to mentor aspiring young female conductors.
Tár is a 2022 psychological drama film written and directed by Todd Field and starring Cate Blanchett.

Tár premiered at the 79th Venice International Film Festival in September 2022, where Blanchett won the Volpi Cup for Best Actress.
Tár was selected Best Film of the Year by the New York Film Critics Circle, the Los Angeles Film Critics Association, and the National Society of Film Critics, becoming only the seventh film in history named as such from the nation’s top critics’ groups.
The American Film Institute named Tár one of the top 10 films of the year. For the 76th British Academy Film Awards, the film Tár received five nominations, including Best Film, Field for Best Director, Blanchett for Best Actress, and Field for Best Original Screenplay.
