The American city of Minneapolis is where James Hong was born.

He attended the University of Minnesota to study civil engineering, but along the road, he developed an interest in acting.

Following his graduation from the University of Southern California, he worked for the County of Los Angeles for 1 12 years as a road engineer.

He used his sick days and vacation time to make movies. He eventually gave up engineering to devote himself entirely to acting.

He was one of the East-West Players’ founders, the city’s first Asian American theater. He presided over the Alliance of Asian-Pacific American Artists and was a founding member.

He resides in Los Angeles at the moment, where he intends to produce and direct his own movies.
