Donald Bryan Fluitt was born in September 1962 in Los Angeles, California. Don was a retired firefighter who was described as a devout Christian who would go out of his way to help others.

The 54-year-old worked for a company that supported and cared for people with developmental disabilities at the time of the incident. Don was the father of three daughters.

Donald “Don” B. Fluitt passed away on December 29, 2016, in his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the age of 54. Don is survived by his children,  his mother, his brother, the Learned family in North Carolina, the Fluitt family in Louisiana.

Don’s life was celebrated with a viewing on Monday, January 9, 2017, from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., followed by a service at 11:30 a.m. at Sagebrush Community Church, 6440 Coors Blvd. NW in Albuquerque. Interment took place at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith NE, following the services.

Don’s mother Shaaron Fluitt is alive and well. However, it appears that his sisters Jeniece and Jenelle Fluitt passed away.
