George Burns’ first wife was Hannah Siegel, who was one of his dance partners. They got married in 1926, but the marriage lasted only 26 weeks and ended after the tour. Siegel’s family would not permit her to tour with Burns unless they were married.

George Burns was an American comedian, actor, writer, and singer whose career successfully spanned vaudeville, radio, film, and television.  He is also known for his arched eyebrow and cigar-smoke punctuation.

George Burns also appeared in several films without Allen, including “The Sunshine Boys” (1975), for which he won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

George Burns and Allen transitioned to television in the 1950s with “The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show.” The show was a hit and ran for eight seasons.

George Burns is also a member of the Television Hall of Fame, where he and Gracie Allen were inducted in 1988. Burns continued to work in television throughout his career, including hosting “The George Burns Show” and “The George Burns Comedy Week”.
