Hardy was born on January 11, 1957, in Perth, Australia. He had an older brother named Michael Hardy.

Hardy began his acting career in the mid-1980s.

The actor played Jimmy Drane in three episodes of Neighbours in 1997, but, was best known for his roles in McLeod’s Daughters (2006–2009), the crime drama Chopper (2000), Chasing Rabbits (2001), Hard Target 2 (2016) and the stage version of Mamma Mia! The Musical.

Peter Hardy was found dead on a beach in Australia after he drowned in Fremantle near Perth, Western Australia, on Thursday, March 16, 2023.

Per reports, the 66-year-old Hardy had travelled to Perth from London to visit his mother.

Hardy is then said to have gone snorkelling at Fremantle’s South Beach when he ran into trouble.

Bystanders at the beach in Perth desperately attempted to save his life by performing CPR in the sand until paramedics arrived on the scene.

However, Emergency crews were unable to save Hardy and he died on the spot.
