Postecoglou made it evident that he wanted to leave Celtic after leading them to another domestic treble in 2022/23, and he’s now signed a four-year agreement in north London.

On 10 June 2021, Postecoglou signed a 12-month rolling contract with Scottish Premiership team Celtic, making him the first Australian manager to lead a major European club.

On 20 July, Postecoglou made his UEFA Champions League debut, drawing 1-1 with Danish Superliga team FC Midtjylland; a 2-1 loss in the second leg in Denmark led to elimination eight days later.

He lost his first league game 2–1 away to Heart of Midlothian on 31 July.

Celtic won the Scottish League Cup on December 19, 2021, after defeating Hibernian 2-1 in the final at Hampden Park.

The following 2 February, a 3-0 win over rivals Rangers propelled Celtic to the top of the league standings for the first time this season, ending opposition manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s 13-game unbeaten run.

The league title was sealed on 11 May, with a game remaining, after a 1-1 draw at Dundee United, as the club did not allow their lead to slip. Postecoglou became the first Australian to win a European league title.

He was appointed Tottenham’s head coach on 6 June 2023, making him the first Australian to manage in the Premier League.
