Geena Davis has been nominated and won several awards to her credit including the winner of the 2019 Jean Hersholt Humanitarian for her decades of work against gender inequality in Hollywood, both on and off-screen.

She has been nominated for a British Academy Film Award and a Primetime Emmy Award and has won an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award.

Why did Geena Davis stop acting?

Geena Davis has been off the screens and people have started wondering what actually happened to her acting career. The truth is that she killed her film career by making three films (with her then-husband Renny Harlin) that flopped, “speachless” and “cutthroat island “.  Although the third movie “Long Kiss Goodnight “ was not bad, her career arc had been deflected downward.

The film industry doesn’t want to spend money on someone for them to disappear and make movies for themselves.

They made an investment and she left them to do her own thing. Obviously, they will find it difficult to invest money in her again. They can’t guarantee that she won’t disappear and try her own thing again.
