As a true freshman at Ohio State University in 2013, Elliott rushed for 262 yards on 30 carries with two touchdowns as a backup to starter Carlos Hyde, mostly playing as a gunner on special teams.
Elliott finished his career at Ohio State on several leaderboards;
- He was second in career rushing yards with 3,961 and yards per game with 101.6 (both behind only Archie Griffin),
- He had the second and third most rushing yards in a season, and five of the top 20 rushing yards in a game.
- His 43 rushing touchdowns was fourth most all time, and his 23 in 2015 was third most in a season.
- His twelve 100-yard rushing games in the 2015 season tied Eddie George for a school record, and the 22 he amassed over his career was again second only to Griffin (as was his streak of 15 consecutive 100-yard games from 2014 to 2015).

Elliott is a three-time Pro Bowl and two-time All-Pro selection, and he led the league in rushing yards in 2016 and 2018.
One recognizable trait about Elliott is that you’ll always see him wearing a small crop top jersey/ half shirt.
Why does Ezekiel Elliott wear a half shirt?
Elliott wears a half shirt/ small crop top jersey because of his lack of preference for jerseys which are loose at the bottom.
During his time at Ohio State, he granted an interview where he addressed the issue. Elliott said;
“I just don’t like how loose jerseys are at the bottom, so I just tuck it up and roll it,”
Though Elliott admits that he sometimes gets into trouble for tucking up his shirts, he views it as a “necessary evil.”
Again, he said;
“I get in trouble for it every once in awhile. I’ll have to come out at halftime, pull my jersey down and tuck it in.”
