Greg Abbott is in a wheelchair because he was paralyzed after an oak tree fell on him as a result of a storm in 1984. Although Greg Abbott could walk after two steel rods were implanted into his spine, he underwent extensive rehabilitation and has used the wheelchair since the rehabilitation.
