Jimmy Butler is a basketball player who plays as a small forward for the Miami Heat of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
Born on September 14, 1989, in Texas, Butler played basketball at Tyler Junior College for a year before transferring to Marquette University.

As a freshman at Tyler, he averaged 18.1 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game.

While at Marquette, Butler averaged 5.6 points and 3.9 rebounds per game and recorded a free-throw percentage of 76.8%, as a sophomore.
In 2011, Butler was drafted by the Chicago Bulls as 30th overall pick in the NBA draft.
He spent six seasons playing for the Bulls before he was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Timberwolves again traded him to the Philadelphia 76ers.
In 2019, Butler was signed in with the Miami Heat, and helped the team quality for the NBA Finals.
As of 2021, he recorded the most steals in the NBA, and in the same year, he signed to a four-year contract extension with the Heat worth $184 million.
Butler has been named an NBA All-Star six times, an All-NBA Team honoree four times, and an NBA All-Defensive Team honoree five times.
He also won a gold medal at the Olympics in 2016.
