Pole vaulter Armand Gustav “Mondo” Duplantis is a Swedish-American who currently holds both the indoor and outdoor world records as well as the European and Diamond League titles.

At the World Championships in 2019, he took home the silver medal. Duplantis set national freshman records both indoors and outdoors during his first year at Lafayette High School in 2015, earning him the title of Gatorade Louisiana Boys Track & Field Athlete of the Year.

At the meet that bears his name, the Mondo Classic in Uppsala, Duplantis made a solid start to his 2023 season.

His winning height of 6.10 m (20 ft 0 in) was not just the finest season debut of all time for a pole vaulter, but also the highest season debut in history.
