According to The New York Times and CNN, the comedian has joined two other authors, Christopher Golden and Richard Kadrey, in a class-action lawsuit. The charges, one against OpenAI and the other against Meta, were filed in a federal court in San Francisco on Friday, July 7 2023.

According to court documents obtained by Vox, Silverman, Golden, and Kadrey claim in their lawsuit against Meta that their copyrighted books, including the star’s 2010 memoir The Bedwetter, were “copied by Meta without consent, without credit, and without compensation” in order to train LLaMA, a set of “large language models” created by the company.

The lawsuit also claims that Meta accessed their works through an online “shadow library,” which the document describes as “flagrantly illegal.”
