Why Was Danny Carey Arrested?
Danny Carey, the drummer for the famed rock band “Tool,” was detained on suspicion of verbally and physically attacking another guy at Kansas City International Airport on Sunday. Lawrence, Kansas, is the drummer’s hometown.
Carey, 60, was cited in Kansas City Municipal Court for continuously yelling a homophobic slur and another obscenity and jabbing two of his fingers into a person’s breast, according to the citation.

He is accused of making offensive and illegal contact. Carey faces a maximum penalty of 180 days in jail, a fine of $250 to $1,000, or a combination of fines and incarceration for the municipal infraction he is accused of.
The arrest was extensively reported in the entertainment media on Monday, including a piece from TMZ that included a video of Carey’s detention.
Police officers shove him up against the glass of a KCI terminal, his hands behind his back, and he is told to stop resisting, according to the footage.
