Emma Raducanu was born on November 13, 2002, in Toronto, Canada. She was raised in Bromley, England. Her father Ion Răducanu hails from Bucharest, Romania while her mother Renee Zhai (Dongmei) is from Shenyang, China.
Emma Raducanu’s family relocated to England when she was two years old. She holds both British and Canadian citizenship. She attended Bickley Primary School and then Newstead Wood School in Orpington. Raducanu made her debut on the ITF Women’s circuit in 2018.
Emma Raducanu made her WTA Tour debut in June 2021 and reached the fourth round in her first major tournament with a wildcard entry at Wimbledon. She became the first singles qualifier in the Open Era to win a Grand Slam title at the US Open.

Emma Raducanu holds the Open Era record for the fewest majors played before winning a title. She is currently the US Open champion as well as the first British woman to win a Grand Slam singles title since the 1977 Wimbledon Championships. She reached a career-high ranking of No. 11 by the Women’s Tennis Association on 25 April 2022.
