Curtis Harris popularly known as CJ Harris was an American singer.

He was born on January 28, 1991 in Jasper, Alabama, United States.
Harris spent his summers working for his grandfather, whom he credits as a mentor.
At age 8, he commenced learning the guitar on a broken one gifted to him by his grandfather; it only had three strings. Harris also played piano and his singing was mostly self-taught.
Harris shot to prominence in 2014 after auditioning on American Idol season 13, where he wowed the judges with a rousing rendition of Allman Brother’s Band Soulshine.
Harris was chosen by the panel as a ‘wildcard’ in the semi-finals and he finished in sixth place on the show.

He had previously auditioned for The Voice and The X-Factor.
After American Idol, CJ went on to perform in several shows.
In 2019, Harris released his debut single, “In Love”.
CJ Harris reportedly died from a suspected heart attack on January 15, 2023, at age 31 at a hospital in Jasper, Alabama.
