What Happened To Christine McVie? How Did Christine McVie Die?

Christine McVie, an English musician, vocalist and keyboardist of Fleetwood Mac has died at age 79.

McVie’s death was announced by her family who revealed that she passed away in a hospital after suffering a short illness.

The statement issued by her family read:

“On behalf of Christine McVie’s family, it is with a heavy heart we are informing you of Christine’s death.

“She passed away peacefully at hospital this morning, Wednesday, November 30th 2022, following a short illness.

“We would like everyone to keep Christine in their hearts and remember the life of an incredible human being, and revered musician who was loved universally”.

Born Christine Anne Perfect, McVie officially joined Fleetwood Mac in 1971 after she got married to bassist John McVie.

The band’s 1977 album Rumours, which was inspired by the break-ups of the McVies and the band’s other couple, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks – became one of the biggest selling of all time, with more than 40 million copies sold worldwide.

In 1999, McVie was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Fleetwood Mac, and received the Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music.

McVie, a recipient of two grammy awards also received several awards and recognitions during her illustrious career:

  1. In 2006, she received a Gold Badge of Merit Award from Basca, now The Ivors Academy,
  2. In 2014, she received the Ivor Novello Award for Lifetime Achievement from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors and
  3. In 2021, she was honoured with the Trailblazer Award at the UK Americana Awards.
